Eczema (medically known as dermatitis) is a condition that arises from an allery or allergic reaction. Eczema results in the body's immune system attacking the epidermis causing painful flare ups and ultimately creating itchy patches of excess dry skin.

Controlling Eczema

Managing eczema can be very difficult for a lot of people.  One way to start controlling eczema is to isolate the underlying cause or allergen. The origin of eczema differs for every case. Some people are sensitive to tree nuts, others milk and even excessive pet dander or pollen can cause flareup. If you wish to learn the possible source of your eczema, I would suggest starting with a visit to an allergist.  A professional allergist can help you pinpoint specific sensitivities and help you understand what can be done to prevent flare ups.

Zaybix Organics Restorative Face and Body Cream can be used to effectively treat dry skin associated with eczema. Below, I have outlined a four step process detailing how you can use this product to keep the dry skin associated with eczema at bay.

Step One: Inflammation Removal

First I would advise using hydrocortisone or a prescribed ointment to remove any inflammation or open sores on the epidermis. Using a moisturizer or lotion other than a prescribed topical ointment on inflamed or broken skin can increase the risk of infection.

Step Two: Gentle exfoliation

Once your eczema flareup has healed to the point of leaving a dry skin patch, I would advise washing the area gently with a soft towel to try to remove any excess dead skin that may be on the surface. Be very careful in this step not to rub skin too hard as this can cause irritation. The objective of this step is to get as close to the “healthy” epidermis as possible before moving on. After gently washing the affected area, I would advise drying the skin as well as possible to remove any excess dirt or debris. Once you feel that the skin is sufficiently clean and dry, I would move on to the next step.

Step Three: Rehydrate

Using a spray bottle, I would advise applying a thin mist of water on clean dry skin. The water used to rehydrate skin should be either distilled or water that has been pre-boiled and cooled to room temperature.  The reason for using “clean” water is to eliminate the possibility of microorganisms entering the epidermis. Tap water, bottled spring water and filtered water do not offer assurance of being free of bacteria or fungus. Applying water teeming with live microorganisms to sensitive epidermis can cause irritation or even result in secondary inflammation.  So it is important that water is devoid of any live bacteria or fungus.

Step Four: Apply Emollient

Immediately after spraying the affected area with a light mist of water, I would advise applying an emollient such as Zaybix Organics Restorative Face and Body Cream. It is best to apply an emollient and not a water-based lotion or moisturizer because an emollient will lock in the moisture. To further explain, an emollient typically does not contain water.  This lends emollients the property of being essentially waterproof. When dealing with dry skin conditions associated with eczema, it is important to trap the moisture onto the epidermis. By creating a slightly damp layer and sealing it with an oil based top layer, the water has a better opportunity to rehydrate the skin and reduce the itchy and dry flaky skin that follows an eczema flareup.

Product Limitations

Zaybix Organics Restorative Face and Body Cream cannot be used to prevent or cure eczema.

For mild cases of eczema this product and the steps outlined above will help remove dry skin and itchiness associated with eczema. This result can be achieved if the emollient is applied once a day. If you are combating severe eczema this regiment should be done 2 to 3 times a day to see best results.
